Last month, two Rancho Cordova residents came together to coordinate the installation of a new mural in the Lincoln Village neighborhood. With support from a city grant, Anu Aaltonen-Bond, Founder and Executive Director of Ri-Nu Imagination, and Roneka Jones of Rico Layer Events, led the project and recruited artist Brandon Alexander, a former Lincoln Village resident, who was selected through a community panel process. The project was also supported by the It Takes a Lincoln Village neighborhood group, as well as the owner of the building.
The mural, located at 9791 Lincoln Village Drive, features soaring birds, majestic mountains, lush forests and a winding river. It is dedicated to the Rancho Cordova community and honors the memory of Eddy Hanna, founder of Hanna Real Estate, LLC.
For Ri-Nu Imagination and Rico Layer Events, the project reflects a shared commitment to bringing the arts into community life. Public art offers a unique experience. It meets people where they are, whether they're walking through their neighborhood, on their way to school, or simply passing by.
