FEMA and the state of Washington are providing separate Individual Assistance Programs to help those affected by the December 2025 storms and flooding. If you have applied with the state, you must also apply with FEMA to receive federal assistance.

What does State Individual Assistance provide?
The state of Washington, in coordination with The Salvation Army, is accepting applications from disaster survivors to determine if they are eligible for state cash assistance. Those affected by the disaster should submit a Needs Assessment Form to the state. That form is found at SAHelp.org. The deadline to apply is April 27, 2026.
Survivors could be eligible for the following assistance:

What does FEMA Individual Assistance provide?
The FEMA Individual Assistance (IA) program is available to Washington homeowners and renters who live in the designated disaster areas. The deadline to apply is June 10, 2026.

This assistance is not a substitute for insurance and cannot cover all losses caused by the disaster or duplicate assistance from other sources. If you have insurance, file a claim and then apply to FEMA.
FEMA assistance is available to those who experienced disaster-related damage in the following areas: Chelan, Grays Harbor, King, Lewis, Pacific, Pierce, Skagit, Snohomish, Thurston, and Whatcom Counties - including the Confederated Tribes of the Chehalis Reservation, Lummi Nation, Muckleshoot Indian Tribe, Nisqually Indian Tribe, Nooksack Indian Tribe, Puyallup Tribe, Quinault Indian Nation, Samish Indian Nation, Sauk-Suiattle Indian Tribe, Shoalwater Bay Indian Tribe, Snoqualmie Indian Tribe, Squaxin Island Tribe, Stillaguamish Tribe of Indians, Swinomish Indian Tribal Community, Tulalip Tribes, and the Upper Skagit Indian Tribe.
How does SBA help?
The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) offers low-interest government loans to homeowners, renters, businesses and private nonprofit organizations. These loans are available to cover unreimbursed expenses from the storms. Visit sba.gov/disaster to apply. Applicants may also apply at any State/FEMA Disaster Assistance Center, and at any SBA Business Recovery Center or Disaster Loan Outreach Center.
