The American Friends Service Committee (AFSC) is pleased to announce that Anthony Wolak has joined the organization as chief financial officer.
As a complex organization doing critical work around the world, AFSC's financial strategies and polices require deep expertise and strong leadership; Wolak brings two decades of financial and operational experience from nonprofit and governmental organizations.
"I'm pleased to join the AFSC at a time when our work is sorely needed - in the United States and around the world," Wolak said. "Our global staff needs a strong, stable financial footing to meet the needs of the mission - and our donors deserve to know that their gifts are being used wisely and effectively."
Wolak has spent his career guiding complex international development operations spanning Asia, East and West Africa, Central America, the Caribbean, Mexico, and Eastern Europe - supporting communities on the front lines of injustice. He also served as a U.S. Foreign Service Officer, managing large-scale government-funded portfolios across multiple regions with the U.S. State Department and USAID. He holds a master's degree in public policy from Carnegie Mellon University and is a certified public accountant (CPA).
