Gilbert, AZ - Beginning Monday, December 15, Gilbert's Public Works Department will begin a four-month water pipeline rehabilitation project along Higley Road, from Guadalupe Road to Ray Road. This critical infrastructure rehabilitation project ensures that your Town can continue providing safe and efficient utility services for generations to come by repairing and restoring the pipes to extend their lifespan and avoid costly replacements.
As the project begins, valves along Higley Road will be closed the week of December 15, which may impact households between Baseline Road and Williams Field Road, as well as Power Road to Val Vista Road. Please see the map below.
This procedure will not impact water service; however, it will cause water to be redistributed through other lines. When this happens, sediment can sometimes stir up and cause discoloration in your tap water for a short period. The water is still safe to use. Town staff will promptly flush the system to clear discoloration, which should resolve within a few hours as water use increases.
After a couple of hours, if your water is still not clear, please contact us by calling (480) 503-6400. You can also submit a request via Gilbert 311 using the "Water - Quality (Brown Water)" category and our water team will follow up with you.
Residents should only experience brown water impacts from December 15 to 22 and again in April 2026.
Traffic restrictions will be in place for the duration of the project. Travelers can expect some impact, including the closure of up to two lanes in each direction and turn restrictions at intersections as needed.
