Defendant Convicted of Domestic Shooting Murder

On January 26, 2026, Vincent Saenz was convicted by a jury of first-degree murder and felon in possession of a firearm. The jury also found true a use of firearm allegation.

On August 14, 2023, Sacramento police officers responded to a report of a shooting at a residence. When they arrived at the home, they found Vincent Saenz with blood stains on his shirt and his wife, Felicia Wilcots, on the floor with a gunshot wound to her back. Officers located the gun on Saenz's bed. The couple's six children were home when their mother was shot, but they did not see the shooting. Four of the older children stated that their parents were arguing before the shooting. The children also later disclosed there was significant domestic abuse by Saenz against their mother for years prior to the shooting. Saenz had also previously made threats to kill the victim.

Saenz faces a maximum sentence of 50 years to life in prison. Sentencing is set for February 20, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. in Department 10 before the Honorable Ernest Sawtelle.
