Residents are encouraged to mark their calendars for Bike to Work Day on Wednesday, June 24, and start preparing now to take part in the citywide celebration of cycling, active transportation and community connection.
Bike commuters can enjoy a free breakfast at stations across the city's bike infrastructure and trail system and at participating local businesses. A citywide breakfast station map is available on the City website to help riders plan their routes and stops.
Bike to Work Day is part of a nationwide effort to celebrate cycling and encourage people to try bicycling as a form of transportation. Cycling can be a healthy, cost-effective way to travel and supports cleaner air in the region. Colorado Springs' cycling infrastructure and trail system help residents get where they need to go while enjoying the city's outdoor spaces.
Whether riding to work for the first time or getting back on a bike after time away, residents can prepare through advance clinics hosted by local businesses and community partners. Clinic topics may include getting your body ready to ride, wayfinding and safe riding practices, finding and fitting the right bike, and basic bike maintenance to make sure a bike is safe and ride-ready.
Businesses and organizations can also support Bike to Work Day by becoming a corporate champion, hosting an advance clinic or signing up as a breakfast station. Breakfast station hosts agree to provide a free breakfast for up to 100 cyclists. Offerings can be simple or elaborate, and breakfast will be available first-come, first-served for the first 100 cyclists at each location.
Participating breakfast stations are included on the citywide Bike to Work Day map. The City will also provide posters, stickers, wayfinding signage and limited-edition Bike to Work Day gear for breakfast station staff while supplies last.
Residents, businesses and organizations can learn more, view the map, prepare to ride, sign up to support the event and view event updates at ColoradoSprings.gov/BikeToWork.
