Protect Your Pets with Stafford’s Easy Drive-Thru Rabies Clinic

With a case of rabies identified recently in the City of Fredericksburg, now is the time to ensure your pet is protected. Stafford's Drive-Thru Rabies Clinic returns Friday, March 6, 2026. The clinic is from 4 pm to 6:30 pm at the Stafford Animal Control office at 26 Frosty Lane, Stafford, VA 22554. The clinic is part of Stafford's ongoing efforts to protect the health of the public and pets in a convenient and economical way for residents.

A limited quantity of rabies tags are available for the clinic. To guarantee a vaccination for your animal, pre-register with the Stafford County Treasurer's Office. The cost is only $10 per pet. You can pre-register online, or by visiting the Stafford Treasurer's Office.

If you have a record of your pet's last vaccination, your pet is eligible for three years of prevention. If you have no record of a rabies shot or if the rabies vaccination has expired by more than one month, the pet can only receive a one-year shot. Remember to provide your prior vaccine history when pre-registering for a three-year rabies vaccine.

Driving through could not be easier. Dogs stay in their vehicle on a leash and the professionals vaccinate them right in the car. Cats must be in a carrier and they are taken into the Animal Control mobile unit to be vaccinated and returned to the vehicle. Please note pre-registration is required by visiting https://www.staffordcountyva.gov/rabiesclinic. Payment must be made at the time of pre-registration. The Treasurer's Office accepts cash, check, money order and all major credit cards as well as Google Pay and Apple Pay in the office. Payments can be made in the office through noon on March 5, 2026. Online payments must be made by e-check or credit/debit card by March 4, 2026.
