The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) will conduct an in-person public information meeting concerning the East Hartford Main Street improvements on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at 7:00 p.m., at the East Hartford Town Hall Council Chambers located at 740 Main Street, East Hartford, CT 06108. This meeting is ADA accessible.
The public information meeting is being held in person to provide the public and local community the opportunity to offer comments or ask questions regarding the proposed project. A question and answer (Q&A) session will immediately follow the presentation, which will be recorded. For instructions on accessing the meeting and ways to provide comments and ask questions, please visit portal.ct.gov/DOTEastHartfordPP042-0014. This is a Greater Hartford Mobility Program project.
"This project will create a more accessible and safer Main Street for all roadway users by incorporating Complete Streets design elements ", said Connecticut Department of Transportation Project Manager,Devin M. Racicot. "The proposed improvements are planned from Pitkin Street to Burnside Avenue. We encourage the public to attend this meeting to share their feedback with the CTDOT project team to incorporate into the design."
Right-of-way impacts are anticipated, but not yet quantified, as the project is still at the concept level.
Construction is anticipated to begin in the spring 2029, based on the availability of funding, acquisition of right(s)-of-way, and approval of permit(s). The estimated construction cost for this project is approximately $38 million. This project is anticipated to be undertaken with 80% federal funds and 20% state funds.
