CTL Workshop: Career Competencies

CTL Workshop: Career Competencies

Center for Teaching & Learning Monday November 17, 2025

Join us for an interactive workshop that will revolutionize how you connect classroom learning to career success! This hands-on session will equip you with practical strategies to seamlessly integrate career competencies into your existing courses while helping students recognize the professional value of their liberal arts education. You'll leave with ready-to-use activities, communication techniques and assessment tools that make career skill development explicit without compromising academic rigor.

For faculty, this workshop reduces the guesswork in incorporating career competencies by providing concrete methods to highlight transferable skills, enhance student engagement and demonstrate the relevance of what your students are learning and its connection in today's job market. Help students articulate their capabilities to employers, see immediate connections between coursework and career success and graduate with greater confidence in their professional readiness. Most importantly, this workshop strengthens our liberal arts mission by showing how critical thinking, communication, collaboration, teamwork and other competencies remain the foundation of meaningful careers and engaged citizenship. Rather than narrowing education to job training, you'll learn to showcase how liberal arts education develops the adaptable, thoughtful leaders our society needs. Come discover how making career connections explicit actually deepens rather than diminishes the transformative power of liberal education.

This workshop will be held at 2 p.m. on Dec. 5 in Library 376. Please register here to attend.
