New options for registering devices in swissdamed: Online editor, Machine-to-Machine (M2M) interface, and Master UDI-DI registration

Manufacturers, persons who assemble systems and procedure packs and authorised representatives now have extended functions for registering devices in swissdamed.

Thanks to a user-friendly online editor and a M2M interface, the registration process in the UDI Devices module is simpler, faster and better adapted to different user needs.

The registration of contact lenses that require a Master UDI-DI is now also supported.

Online editor: manual data entry

The new online editor provides an uncomplicated and intuitive option for entering devices, systems and procedure packs directly in the system.

Users are guided step by step through all required input fields, without the need for specific technical expertise.

This solution is particularly suitable for:

• Companies with a limited product portfolio
• Users with little experience in uploading XML files or using automated interfaces

The online editor offers an easy entry point to device registration and significantly improves overall usability.

M2M interface: Automated data transfer

An M2M interface is now available.

This option enables the automated transfer of device data in JSON format directly to swissdamed via a REST API.

The M2M connection is particularly suitable for:

• Companies managing large data volumes
• Users with strong technical expertise or support from specialised service providers

Important:

To ensure correct and safe setup, it is important to test your implementation in the provided playground environment. This helps verify proper data transfer and avoids unnecessary rework or additional costs.

Greater flexibility of registration

With the introduction of the online editor and the M2M interface, two complementary registration options are available in swissdamed: simple manual data entry and automated data exchange for larger volumes.

Master UDI-DI registration:

Highly individualised products requiring a Master UDI-DI can now be registered in swissdamed.

This currently applies to:

• Standard soft contact lenses
• Rigid gas permeable contact lenses
• Made-to-order soft contact lenses
• Made-to-order rigid gas permeable contact lenses

For spectacle frames, spectacle lenses, and ready-made reading glasses, registration is not yet available.
