Watch: Jelly Roll Confirms His Appearance In Movie Starring Glen Powell

Jelly Roll confirmed he plays "a small part" in an upcoming movie starring Glen Powell.

Powell caught up with Jelly Roll when the Grammy-winning artist served as a guest host on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Monday night (August 24). Powell wrote The Comeback King with director Judd Apatow, and stars in the film alongside Madelyn Cline, Cristin Milioti and others. The comedy focuses on a country artist who "experiences a dramatic downfall and must navigate their career in free fall," per its description on IMDb. It's expected to premiere in early 2027.

"Jelly crushes it," Powell said. "It's the first time I've ever sang on screen, and I mean, it's in front of Jelly, Miranda Lambert and Brad Paisley. It's the most terrifying experience of my entire life. But the movie is fantastic and you [Jelly Roll] crush it."

Jelly Roll remembered when he, Lambert and Paisley heard Powell sing, and "it's like he's been singing his whole life," he said. "It was unbelievable." Powell, who also wrote music (and hit the Nashville honky tonks) with HARDY, credited his voice coach, his mother and his sister with helping him prepare for the singing role. He later shared that he's "really proud of my little sister," who wrote some of the music on The Comeback King. "To make music with your family, to do this journey with your family, there's no greater privilege or honor." The family sang Shania Twain and Tim McGraw songs on road trips, he reflected (though he admitted growing up, he was "so scared" to sing in front of people).

During his appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Powell shared the message he send to Jelly Roll while he was writing the movie with Apatow. Powell asked,"hey, what are sort of the limits of what I can write for you and what I can't?"

Jelly Roll's responded, according to the transcript Powell read aloud: "Hey Glen, what's up, baby? Thanks for the message, dog. I love you. I love Judd. Thanks for the opportunity. Let me tell you something about myself. Y'all should know that - I hope you already know - but I don't give a f*** much about anything. Like, whatever the wildest thing y'all can make happen for me, no limitations. If I eat the entire s*** sandwich, just like a complete maniac. Anyway. High excited. Love you, man."

Powell said Jelly Roll "crushed it," and the movie is "so freaking funny." The "Need A Favor" artist, who grew up in Music City, applauded Powell's respect for his hometown.

"As a country music artist and a kid that grew up in Nashville, Tennessee, we've had a lot of people try to make movies about us and we feel like they've always been disrespectful to our culture," Jelly Roll said. "But you went out of your way to make the city feel involved. You had more country music artists show up for your movie than the Country Music Association Awards had last year. It was unbelievable."
