Orange County Animal Services Resumes Full Operations, Announces $5 Adoption Promotion

Shelter Celebrates Return to Normal Operations with Five Days of $5 Adoptions

Orange County, FL - Orange County Animal Services (OCAS) today announced that normal shelter operations have resumed following a temporary disruption caused by construction of the County's new animal shelter. While some construction activities remain ongoing, the shelter has resumed all services, including normal animal intake.

To celebrate the return to full operations and help more shelter pets find homes, OCAS will launch a special adoption promotion offering $5 adoptions for five days, beginning Wednesday, October 14, through Sunday, October 18, 2026. All dogs and cats ages four months and older are eligible for the reduced adoption fee.

"We appreciate our community's patience and understanding as we worked through this phase of construction," said Diane Summers, division manager of Orange County Animal Services. "Now that we're back to normal operations, we're excited to offer this promotion and hopefully help many of the wonderful pets in our care find their new families."

The new Orange County Animal Services shelter, anticipated to be completed in Fall 2027, will span more than 123,000 square feet and include 265 dog kennels and housing for nearly 200 cats. More information about the new shelter can be found on the shelter's website.
