WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA), Chairman of the U.S. Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee, unveiled the Money and Value for Patients (MVP) agenda to make health care affordable and empower families to pick the best care for them. Cassidy's agenda lays out a vision to advance President Trump's mission to make America healthier and more affordable.
"Families can't afford life. Much of that is driven by health care costs," said Dr. Cassidy. "As a doctor, I support President Trump's call to give patients the power. The best way to do that is to put money in their pocket to cover their out-of-pocket costs and lower prices."

Cassidy's MVP agenda focuses on three areas to lower costs and improve Americans' health. The agenda proposes giving money directly to patients to help cover their out-of-pocket health costs. Additionally, it empowers patients to know and compare the true prices for prescriptions and health procedures, creating competition and lowering costs. It also calls for addressing unhealthy foods.
Background:
As the first physician to chair the HELP Committee, Cassidy is a longtime champion of empowering patients and lowering health care costs for families. Earlier this year, President Trump signed Cassidy's PBM Reform Act into law to increase price transparency. Cassidy also led the Health Care Freedom for Patients Act with U.S. Senator Mike Crapo (R-ID) as an alternative to Democrats' plan to continue giving billions of dollars to giant insurance companies.
