Menendez Responds to Trump’s 2026 State of the Union Address
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman Rob Menendez released the following statement tonight after President Trump's 2026 State of the Union address:
"Tonight, Donald Trump repeated the lies he has told over and over again to the American people.
"Trump promised to lower costs. Instead, Americans got massive cost increases on everything from groceries to childcare to utility bills.
"Trump promised to focus immigration enforcement on violent criminals. Instead, DHS and ICE have terrorized our communities, tearing apart families, and killing Americans in broad daylight.
"Trump promised to fix healthcare. Instead, he left our neighbors without coverage by cutting nearly $1 trillion from Medicaid and causing premiums to skyrocket.
"While Trump and House Republicans have caused immeasurable harm to the American people, I stand with House Democrats to deliver real, meaningful change. We are in a battle for the soul of our nation - one that we will win by delivering on a much brighter vision for America than what we are all living through today. That is our mission and we know that we shall succeed - together."
