Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs meets with Assistant Minister of the Ministry of Public Security of the People's Republic of China
On 17 December 2025, Mrs. Eksiri Pintaruchi, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, held extensive discussions with H.E. Mr. Liu Zhongyi, Assistant Minister of the Ministry of Public Security of the People's Republic of China (PRC), on the sidelines of the International Conference on the Global Partnership against Online Scams in Bangkok.
Both sides discussed cooperation to combat transnational crime, especially in dealing with online scams in the region. They agreed that Thailand and China must work together to send a strong and decisive political signal on the issue. The Permanent Secretary reiterated that combatting transnational crime is Thailand's national agenda and underlined the Thai government's firm commitment to addressing the problem, which is the reason Thailand organized the International Conference on the Global Partnership against Online Scams to promote international cooperation on this issue - one that can only be successfully tackled through joint efforts. The Assistant Minister of China reaffirmed that the Chinese government fully shared this view and, therefore, designated him as representative to participate actively in the conference.
Both sides also exchanged views on concrete measures to suppress online scam networks in the region, including on information sharing, tracking financial flows, and strengthening trilateral cooperation among Thailand, China, and Myanmar. The Assistant Minister of China thanked Thailand for its assistance in taking care of and facilitating the timely repatriation of Chinese nationals back to China via Thailand. They agreed that the implementation of this mission must be carried out in an orderly and safe manner, with minimal impact on local communities on the ground.
In addition, Thailand and China agreed to continue coordinating closely with one another on the issue to maintain peace and security in the region, as well as safeguard the safety and interests of the peoples.
