Atlanta, Ga. - U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff is delivering resources to support victims of child abuse in Georgia.
Bringing Republicans and Democrats in Congress together, Sen. Ossoff is delivering new funding to the Georgia Center for Child Advocacy to strengthen responses to child abuse and maltreatment across Georgia. The Center will use these new funds to hire and train additional staff for their forensics, advocacy, therapy, and prevention programming.
Sen. Ossoff is delivering $350,000 for the project through bipartisan government funding legislation that became law on February 3.
"Nothing matters more than the safety and wellbeing of children," Sen. Ossoff said. "That is why I brought Republicans and Democrats together in Congress to improve services for child victims of crime and help prevent further victimization of children."
"Thank you to Senator Ossoff for joining the Georgia Center for Child Advocacy and our fight against child sexual abuse and the trafficking of minors. From the teenage girl who escapes her trafficker, to the young boy who is now recovering from post-traumatic stress after witnessing the violent loss of a family member - these stories of survival are happening at child advocacy centers across Georgia and together, we give these children a chance to find their voice, be heard and heal," said Sheila Ryan, CEO of the Georgia Center for Child Advocacy.
