The SPorT - Smartport Transfer project marks the launch of a unique innovation initiative on the Weser that brings business, science, and port operations closer together than ever before. The aim is to make the ports of Bremen future-proof, resilient, and people-centered. This is made possible by funding from the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), which is providing a total of up to €3.5 million for innovative joint projects under the DATIpilot guideline until 2028.
Membership with impact - free of charge, but not for nothing
At the heart of the project is the SPorT community, in which all members play an active role: they decide which ideas are promoted and which projects are implemented. Membership is free of charge, but offers a real say in the matter - and is therefore by no means worthless.
Institutions such as companies, universities, government agencies, associations, and research institutions can become members immediately. Membership can be obtained informally by sending an email to [email protected]. Members can participate in the development of the project strategy and submit their own ideas for funded projects together with partners.
Save the date: General Meeting on June 23, 2025
An important date for all current and future members is the SPorT general meeting on June 23, 2025. Here, not only will the representatives of the SPorT committee be elected and initial project ideas discussed, but the future strategic direction of the community will also be jointly determined. It is an opportunity for exchange, networking, and actively shaping the future of the ports of Bremen.
Idea sketch competition launched
The first call for submissions of ideas for community projects is now open - until August 31, 2025. We are looking for innovative project ideas that correspond to at least one of the three focus topics:
Ideas can be easily submitted in PDF format to [email protected]. The necessary form and further information on criteria and funding conditions are available online.
Further information on the project, all forms, and the membership application can now be found on the project's new website (www.smartport-transfer.de).
