SCO Secretary-General meets with the Ambassador of Myanmar
On January 29, 2026, at the Secretariat of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Beijing Secretary-General Nurlan Yermekbayev met with Zaw Win Myint, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar to the People's Republic of China.
The Secretary-General congratulated the Ambassador on the commencement of his work in China and confirmed the readiness of the Secretariat to assist Myanmar in realizing its status as an SCO Dialogue Partner. Nurlan Yermekbayev noted that enhancing interaction with partners and turning it in practical forms is one of the important areas of the Organization's activities.

At the Ambassador's request, the Secretary-General shared information on the key outcomes of the SCO Tianjin Summit (September 1, 2025) and on a number of current issues on the Organization's agenda.
The Ambassador of Myanmar emphasized the great interest of the Government of Myanmar in intensifying cooperation with the SCO member states.
The meeting was held in a constructive and friendly atmosphere.
