Governor Reeves Appoints Craig Treadway Circuit Judge For The 21st Circuit Court District And Reopens Qualifying

JACKSON, Miss. - Governor Tate Reeves today announced the appointment of the Honorable Craig Treadway of Olive Branch to the Office of Circuit Court Judge for the 21st Circuit Court District, Place 2. This appointment fills a vacancy created on August 1, 2026, due to the resignation of the Honorable Celeste Embry Wilson as a result of her appointment to the Mississippi Supreme Court.

"Judge Treadway's legal expertise and dedication to public service have prepared him for this important role," said Governor Reeves. "His decades of experience as an attorney, combined with his service as a prosecutor and as a county and youth court judge, make him an outstanding choice to serve the people of the 21st Circuit Court District."

Since his appointment in 2017, Judge Treadway has served as county court judge for DeSoto County, presiding over the youth court docket. Judge Treadway has also presided over civil matters, as well as civil and criminal appeals.

Before taking the bench, Judge Treadway served as the prosecutor for DeSoto County and as a public defender. Additionally, he was in private practice for over 10 years representing a variety of clients in trial and appellate courts across Mississippi.

Judge Treadway earned his J.D. from the University of Mississippi School of Law and his B.A. from the University of Mississippi.

Judge Treadway's appointment will begin on September 1, 2026, and he will serve the remainder of the four-year term.

Additionally, Governor Reeves has issued a proclamation reopening the qualification period for the position of Circuit Judge for the 21st Circuit District, Place 2. The qualifying period will be open for seven days, until 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 25, 2026. Any person who wishes to run in the November 3, 2026, general election for this position shall file their qualifying papers with the State Board of Election Commissioners.
