On July 8, the Santa Rosa City Council adopted the City's updated Active Transportation Plan, laying the groundwork for a more walkable, bikeable, and accessible Santa Rosa for people of all ages and abilities.
The plan identifies priority projects to improve sidewalks, bike lanes, crosswalks, and trails-making it safer and easier to travel the City without a vehicle. It was shaped by extensive community input and the ongoing efforts of the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Board, a dedicated group of community volunteers who help guide the City's active transportation priorities.
The Active Transportation Plan, formerly the 2018 Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan, is reevaluated every five years to ensure our active transportation system continues to evolve and to better serve our community.
The plan supports the City's goals of reducing greenhouse gas emissions, improving public health, and promoting equitable access to safe transportation options. Adoption of the plan positions the City to seek grant funding and implement key infrastructure improvements in the coming years.
