A new nature-themed playground is coming to Evergreen Park this summer! The project will replace the aging playground with a larger, accessible, nature-themed play area designed for children ages 2 to 12.
New features will encourage climbing, swinging, sliding, and imaginative play while improving accessibility for children of all abilities. A shade sail system will provide protection from the sun and light rain, helping extend play opportunities throughout the year.
The new Evergreen Park play features and shade sail are two of five park enhancements in Hillsboro that received funding from Metro's Nature in Neighborhoods Community Choice Grant Program.
In 2023, Metro and Hillsboro Parks & Recreation hosted a series of community open houses to gather ideas for local parks and recreation improvements. Community members then voted on their preferred projects, helping shape how grant funding would be invested in Washington County.
Located in the Tanasbourne area, Evergreen Park is a 13-acre neighborhood park that offers opportunities for recreation and connection with nature. The park features trails through natural areas, a basketball court, open lawn space, and a playground that has served the community since 2001.
With several nearby apartment and condominium communities, Evergreen Park serves a growing and diverse neighborhood. These improvements will help ensure the park continues to meet the needs of local families while creating more opportunities for outdoor play and exploration.
