CONGRESSMAN FIELDS RELEASES STATEMENT ON BEING JOINED BY CURRENT AND FORMER MEMBERS OF CONGRESS IN HISTORIC CALL FOR FAIR REPRESENTATION

Baton Rouge, LA - Today, Congressman Fields stood alongside Congressman Troy Carter and former Congressmen William Jefferson and Cedric Richmond during a Senate and Governmental Affairs hearing at the Louisiana State Capitol to deliver a unified message on the importance of protecting fair representation for Black Louisianans:

"Since Reconstruction, Louisiana has sent only four Black members to the United States Congress. This morning, the four of us stood together in the Louisiana State Capitol to make clear that the voices of Black Louisianans must be heard, respected, and protected.

I am grateful to Congressman Carter, Congressman Richmond, and Congressman Jefferson for standing alongside me. What we represented in that committee room today was bigger than any legislation or committee hearing - it was a living testament to resilience, and a call to do better for the people of Louisiana."
