Angélica joined Kinross in 2023 and was soon recognized for her role in supporting community engagement and building relationships between Kinross and our stakeholders.
As General Services Supervisor, Angélica has been key in leading educational site visits for students, community members and other external participants. She successfully manages the complex logistics of welcoming tour attendees to site at altitude conditions 4,000 metres above sea level, even in inclement weather. Angélica ensures all participants are properly prepared and capable of managing conditions while providing education and information on the operation during their tours.
She also demonstrates Outstanding Corporate Citizenship internally, championing initiatives that benefit her colleagues. Back in Copiapó, Angélica identified the need for improved shelter for employees who travel the long distances to La Coipa by bus and advocated for the construction of an improved bus stop which includes charging ports for cell phones and computers. This has significantly improved employees' overall transportation experience when traveling to site.
In addition, Angélica plays an active role in the DEI+ Committee at Kinross Chile, promoting initiatives both inside and outside the workplace to bring our core values to life. She is passionate about building a space for women in mining and participates in several conferences and workshops including 'Mesa Mujer' and 'Mujer en Minería,' two public-private initiatives that promote education, training and female representation in mining across the Atacama region.
Angélica is also an active participant of the Women in Mining Roundtable of Atacama where she participates as a mentor and keynote speaker. Her efforts to promote Change Management and Community Support related to DEI have earned her public recognition by the regional ministerial secretariat that represents the Ministry of Women and Gender Equity and the Presidential Delegate of the Atacama region.
"Angélica strengthens Kinross's corporate citizenship through her ethical leadership, passionate community engagement, and advocacy for diversity and inclusion, building positive bonds that uphold Kinross' name and core values," said a colleague.
