Augusta HCD and Partners to Host Golden Blocks Ribbon Cutting on November 13

All Are Welcome to Attend

AUGUSTA - The Augusta, Georgia Government - Housing and Community Development Department (HCD), in partnership with the Greater Augusta Arts Council and the Lucy Craft Laney Museum of Black History, will host the Golden Blocks Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at the SOAR Building, 1134 Laney Walker Blvd., Augusta, GA.

The event will unveil a new mural by local artist Theron Cartwright, titled "Heroes at Home and Abroad: In the Military during the Golden Blocks Era, 1898-1945."

HCD served on the project review panel with community partners, helping select the artist and coordinate planning for the unveiling.

The ceremony will include remarks from local leaders and the artist, as well as a presentation by the Lucy Craft Laney High School JROTC.
