METRO ATLANTA - Contractors for the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) will install lane closures on Interstate 75 (I-75) at various locations in Cobb, Cherokee and Bartow Counties this weekend for a resurfacing project. The project limits are from Frey Road in Cobb County to Glade Road in Bartow County. Resurfacing improves the condition of the roadway and provides a smoother ride for drivers.
Weather and onsite conditions permitting, lane closures will "roll" through the project limits on I-75 each weekend night beginning 9 p.m. on Friday, September 11 until 5 a.m. on Monday. In addition, on Friday night only, crews will install double lane closures on I-75 northbound and southbound between SR 5/Barrett Parkway/Kennesaw (exit 269) and Glade Road/Acworth (exit 278).
These lane closures will help ensure the safety of drivers and workers as crews mill, inlay and resurface the roadway, then apply asphalt pavement and permanent striping. This $8.2 million
project is scheduled for completion in early spring 2027.
