On February 10, Consul General Ren Faqiang paid a courtesy call to Cape Town Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis to exchange views on deepening mutually beneficial cooperation between the two sides.
Consul General Ren stated that Chinese local cities and Cape Town maintain close cooperation in economic and trade, cultural and infrastructure development. Chinese enterprises actively participate in local economic development, while the Chinese community plays a positive role in promoting multicultural exchange, serving as a vivid example of China-South Africa friendship. He expressed gratitude to the City of Cape Town for its long-standing support in providing a favorable environment for the operation and development of Chinese enterprises, the well-being of the Chinese community, and the travel of Chinese visitors. He hoped the City of Cape Town would continue to offer support in areas such as visa facilitation and personal safety, thereby creating an even better environment for bilateral cooperation.
Mayor Lewis highly commended the Chinese community's positive contributions to Cape Town's cultural prosperity and community development, and expressed gratitude to Chinese enterprises for creating numerous local jobs. The City of Cape Town places great importance on its relations with China and is willing to strengthen alignment in areas such as urban development strategies and economic and trade investment, deepening and expanding mutually beneficial cooperation opportunities.
