Our statement from Carlo A. Scissura, Esq., President and CEO of the New York Building Congress, on the federal government's $4.7 billion investment in the Northeast Corridor and Penn Station:
"The New York Building Congress welcomes this $4.7 billion investment in the Northeast Corridor (NEC), a major step forward for the busiest rail line in the country through which 20% of our nation's GDP flows. Strengthening Penn Station and critical NEC infrastructure will improve reliability, enhance the passenger experience, and support the continued growth of the region.
Coming on the heels of long-awaited federal funding for the Second Avenue Subway, a project more than a century in the making, this commitment reinforces the importance of sustained, forward-looking investment in transformative transit projects that keep our country moving, competitive, and built for the future."
