LAS VEGAS - Today, two aliens, one from Sudan and one from Afghanistan, have been charged for illegally voting in a federal election in Nevada.
"As these cases show, the public and political narrative that Nevada's elections are not fraught with fraud is categorically false," said Sigal Chattah, First Assistant United States Attorney for the District of Nevada. "Let these cases serve as a stark, unmistakable warning: if you deliberately try to subvert the democratic process, my office will hunt you down, expose your actions, and prosecute you to the absolute fullest extent of the law. My office will continue to investigate and charge any individuals who engage in election fraud. We are drawing a hard line in the sand to protect the legal votes of our citizens, and anyone who crosses it will face severe consequences."
"Safeguarding the integrity of federal elections requires a coordinated law enforcement response to alleged violations of election laws," said Erin Burke, Special Agent in Charge for HSI Los Angeles. "HSI and our FBI partners remain committed to investigating these cases thoroughly and ensuring that those accused of violating federal law are held accountable through the judicial process."
"Protecting the integrity of the American electoral process is among our highest responsibility," said Special Agent in Charge Christopher S. Delzotto for the FBI Las Vegas Office. "We will exhaustively pursue and hold accountable anyone who seeks to undermine our elections, ensuring that every citizen's right to a free and fair vote is protected. We will utilize all appropriate resources to investigate credible claims of voter fraud, steadfastly guided by our core values of Fidelity, Bravery, and Integrity. Always remember: Justice will find you."
