On October 12, 2025, Vice Foreign Minister Miao Deyu met with Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva Tatiana Valovaya, who is in China to attend the Global Leaders' Meeting on Women, as well as the Permanent Representatives to Geneva of Bolivia, Mexico, Chile, Malaysia, and the Maldives.
Miao welcomed these foreign guests' participation in the Global Leaders' Meeting on Women, saying that China looks forward to joining all parties in revisiting the spirit of the Beijing World Conference on Women in 1995, so as to inject new impetus into the promotion of gender equality and the comprehensive development of women. China firmly supports multilateralism and the work of the United Nations, and stands ready to work with all parties to implement the Global Governance Initiative and advance the building of a community with a shared future for humanity.
The foreign guests spoke highly of the historical significance of the Beijing World Conference on Women and China's leading role in the global advancement of women, expressed appreciation for China's hosting of the Global Leaders' Meeting on Women and its support for the work of the United Nations, and extended their best wishes for the complete success of the Meeting.
