With a poor forecast in the coming days, Shetland Islands Council has postponed planned maintenance on the linkspan at the Papa Stour ferry terminal until next Spring.

Delayed works to replace the Papa Stour linkspan were due to begin next week, on Monday 6th October 2025. With strong winds forecast this weekend, generating considerable sea swell, and further windy weather expected in the coming days, a decision has been made to now postpone these works until Spring 2026.

The Papa Stour ferry will therefore continue to operate as normal next week, for pre-booked passengers and vehicles, weather permitting.
