It is one year now that Ambassador Martin Selmayr has taken up his post as Ambassador to the Holy See, the UN in Rome (FAO, WFP, IFAD), the Republic of San Marino and the Sovereign Order of Malta.

Together with his colleagues from the EU27, his team at the EU Delegation in Rome and diplomats from all continents, Ambassador Selmayr shares his thoughts on how we work in uncertain, volatile times to preserve the rules-based international system and find multilateral solutions for global challenges such as hunger, poverty and climate change. Standing with Ukraine and working for an authentic, just and lasting peace, for an exchange of prisoners of war and for a return of deported Ukrainian children, is and remains priority number 1 for the EU's diplomatic work in Rome.
