ATLANTA - State Representative Eric Bell (D-Jonesboro) celebrates the recent decision by the House Special Rules Committee to schedule a hearing for House Bill 1013, bipartisan legislation that would designate lemon pepper as the State of Georgia's official chicken wing flavor. The bill is scheduled for a hearing on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at 2 p.m. in room 415 of the Coverdell Legislative Office Building. The hearing will be open to the public and will be livestreamed via the Georgia General Assembly website here.
"Since introducing this bill last month, I have received messages of support from Georgians across the state who share my love for lemon pepper wings," said Rep. Bell. "I am thankful that my colleagues recognize the importance of celebrating cultural staples that define our state, and I look forward to working alongside Chairman Scoggins and the members of the House Special Rules Committee to move this legislation forward and bring lemon pepper wings the recognition they deserve."
HB 1013 is sponsored by Representatives Bell of the 75th House District, Sharper of the 177th, Carpenter of the 4th, Huddleston of the 72nd and McQueen of the 61st. If passed, the bill would amend Article 3 of Chapter 3 of Title 50 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated to designate lemon pepper as the official Georgia state chicken wing flavor.
