September 19, 2024

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-La.) released the following statement regarding the House Natural Resources Committee passage of his legislation to include Lafourche Parish, La., as part of the Atchafalaya National Heritage Area (ANHA):

"Louisiana is world-famous for our unique culture. From our distinct bayou landscapes to the diverse array of wildlife, so much of our storied culture is connected to the uniqueness of the Atchafalaya River Basin and the communities and people connected to it.

"I'm pleased to see my bill, which expands the boundaries of the existing Heritage Area to include Lafourche Parish, pass out of the House Natural Resources Committee today, and I look forward to continuing to work through the legislative process to get this bill signed into law."
