LOUISVILLE, Ky. - September 29, 2025 - Avient Corporation, an innovator of materials solutions, will introduce its new GridCore™ Composite Utility Poles at The Utility Expo, one of the largest events for utility professionals and construction contractors in the industry, in Louisville, Kentucky, October 7-9. The addition of GridCore poles expands Avient's market-leading portfolio of pultruded composite materials for the electrical transmission and distribution market.

GridCore Composite Utility Poles are engineered to enhance electrical grid resilience as an alternative to wood poles, providing a more durable solution. As compared to wood, steel, or concrete poles, GridCore fiberglass-reinforced thermoset composite poles are lighter in weight, enabling ease of installation. They also require less maintenance, offer pest resistance, and are more resilient in corrosive or coastal environments. These advantages can provide a lower total system and lifecycle cost compared to other materials.

GridCore fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) composite poles are manufactured via a continuous pultrusion process, supporting consistent quality. The one-piece, non-tapered pole profiles are cut to customer-specified lengths and fabricated with pre-drilled holes to customer specifications, including a top cap, a base plate, and a customer-specific nameplate. Additional accessories are also available through Avient.

In addition to GridCore composite poles, the Avient exhibit will also feature:

  • Glasforms™ Pultruded Rods, Tubes & Custom Profiles (including guy insulators, crossarms, and more composite technologies for electrical insulators)
  • GlasArmor™ Ballistic Resistant Panels and ThermoBallistic™ Composite Panels

Avient is exhibiting at The Utility Expo, October 7-9, 2025, in Booth S4411 at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville, Kentucky. Media registered for the show's Quick Pitch Showcase are invited to hear more details about GridCore utility poles on Tuesday, October 7, starting at 7 a.m. with Avient presenting from 8:37 a.m. to 8:40 a.m. in the Newsroom South Wing Room C105. Media can register for this event by emailing an RSVP to: [email protected].
