VICTORY FOR GUN SAFETY: Phil Weiser Elected Governor of Colorado

WASHINGTON - Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund and its grassroots networks, Moms Demand Action and Students Demand Action, declared a major victory today as voters elected Attorney General Phil Weiser as Governor of Colorado.

"As Attorney General, Phil Weiser has forcefully defended Colorado's gun safety laws against the Trump Justice Department, and now he'll protect them from the governor's office," said John Feinblatt, president of Everytown for Gun Safety. "Everytown congratulates Governor-elect Weiser, and we look forward to working with him to advance more common-sense policies to keep Coloradans safe."

"Colorado volunteers have helped make their state a leader on gun safety, testifying for bill after bill and electing their own to the statehouse," said Angela Ferrell-Zabala, executive director of Moms Demand Action. "Phil Weiser has stood with them along the way, and now he'll be the one signing the next round of lifesaving laws. Our movement is thrilled for him."

"Phil Weiser has always been someone Colorado volunteers can count on, and we're so proud to help elect him governor," said Kathy Kelly, a volunteer with the Colorado chapter of Moms Demand Action. "This fall, we talked to our neighbors about what this race meant for our state and our safety, and they showed up. We can't wait to get to work with him."

Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund endorsed 503 gun safety champions running at every level of government, from statehouses to governor's offices. Moms Demand Action and Students Demand Action volunteers made more than 15 million voter contacts to help elect them.
