Today in New York City, 1.2 million residents - about one in seven - are experiencing hunger. It's a staggering figure that demands urgent action from our city's leaders.
The Mayoral Forum, co-sponsored by United Way of New York City and other anti-hunger organizations on April 24th, offered an opportunity to hear from mayoral candidates about their plans to tackle NYC's food insecurity crisis.
During the live-streamed discussion, candidates Michael Blake, Zellnor Myrie, Scott Stringer, and Brad Lander proposed a range of solutions to address hunger and poverty in NYC. A key part of the day's theme was the importance of a holistic approach in approaching affordability in New York City.
Moderated by Errol Louis, Political Anchor at Spectrum News NY1, the conversation highlighted the urgent need for leadership and bold ideas to ensure no New Yorker goes hungry.
Hear how each candidate plans to fight hunger - and which policies you can advocate for to create a more food-secure NYC.
