Location: Lincoln County, NV on Nevada Test and Training Range (NTTR) withdrawn lands.

Size & Completion: Approx. 10 acres. The Quail Springs Fire experienced moderate growth, primarily due to winds, high temp and low relative humidities. Firefighters are utilizing a confine and contain strategy, rather than full suppression. Completion is 0%.

Evacuations: No evacuations and no structures are threatened.

Closures: The Quail Springs Fire is within the Nevada Test and Training Range (NTTR) withdrawn lands. This is a restricted area, closed to the public, always, regardless of fire activity. No additional closures are in effect.

Threatened

Update: Fire behavior is active with short runs, with increased activity in the afternoon. This incident is still developing, and this is the initial information release.

Fire Outlook: The fire is expected to increase activity in the afternoon on Sunday, with reduced activity overnight. The fire will continue to be monitored closely. Warm, dry weather with afternoon breezes is expected through Tuesday. Fire activity is expected to increase during the afternoon burning period before moderating overnight as temperatures cool and humidity recovers. Current forecasts do not indicate significant weather changes. Isolated thunderstorms are possible in the area. A possibility of thunderstorms implies potentially gusty and erratic winds. Gusty and erratic winds may contribute to fire spread.

Objective: Today crews will continue point protection strategies and act as necessary to protect values at risk. All values at risk are not publicly accessible and are not a threat to public health or safety if impacted.
