Budrys: Lithuania firmly supports Moldova's EU bid

On 6 February in Chișinău, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Kęstutis Budrys met with the Moldova's Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu and Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Cristina Gherasimov.

The meeting focused on Moldova's European integration process, the implementation of reforms, and the progress achieved.

Minister Budrys emphasized Lithuania's consistent commitment to supporting the European aspirations of Moldova and Ukraine as well as sharing Lithuania's practical experience to assist Moldova on its path toward EU membership.

"The successful process of Moldova's European integration is the only way to break free from Russia's hostile influence and ensure the country's prosperity. Lithuania and other Baltic states are the best example of this. It is necessary to speed up negotiations on EU membership and start them simultaneously with Ukraine. We are always ready to provide practical support and share our experience," said Budrys.

The security situation in the region, Russia's attempts to influence Moldova's electoral system, other hybrid attacks, and threats to democracy were also discussed during the meeting.

The Minister emphasized Lithuania's solidarity with Moldova and support for strengthening Moldova's resilience.
