Columbia City Council election petitions available for pickup

Residents who wish to run for City Council for Ward 2 or Ward 6 must file a petition for office with the City Clerk's Office.

Interested parties can pick up petitions and instructions from the City Clerk's Office at City Hall, 701 E. Broadway, from 8 a.m. to noon and from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., excluding weekends and City holidays.

Candidates must be qualified voters and residents of the ward they are filing to represent. They shall hold no lucrative public office or any lucrative position in the City government during their terms. Candidates for Ward 2 and Ward 6 must obtain at least 50 signatures from residents who reside and are registered voters of that same ward.

The deadline to file is 5 p.m. Jan. 12, 2027.
