Gilbert, Ariz. - Parks for Pollinators Month is this September with four programs for all ages, from toddlers to adults, focused on the bees, butterflies and other pollinators that keep Arizona's ecosystems running.
Parks for Pollinators Parent/Tot Class
Toddlers and their parents will hear a story, make a craft and learn how to support bee habitats.
Southwest Pollinators
Kids will play games, do crafts and visit the pollinator demonstration garden. Every participant takes home a plant to start their own pollinator garden.
Pollinator Garden 101
Adults will learn the basics of building a pollinator garden, including plant and site selection, and go home with desert-adapted plants and seeds to get started.
Parks for Pollinators BioBlitz
Local experts will be on hand as visitors help document the pollinators and pollinator-friendly plants living at the Preserve. Drop in anytime during the three-hour window. Participants just need the free iNaturalist app to snap photos of plants and pollinators, which the app's online community helps identify. Kids under 18 must be with an adult. Drop-ins and day-of registration are welcome.
The BioBlitz is part of a national effort connecting local park and recreation agencies to a broader push to track pollinator habitat across the country.
