Bankruptcy Court for the District of Kansas Remains Open During Government Shutdown

Monday, February 2, 2026

Although the federal government is experiencing a partial government shutdown, the District of Kansas Bankruptcy Court remains open and continues to adjudicate bankruptcy matters, accept new case filings, receive and process pleadings and fees, and hear matters. Parties and their representatives should be prepared to appear for all matters that have been and will be scheduled for hearing unless the Court grants a party's request for extension of time for good cause. The Case Management/Electronic Case Files (CM/ECF) system continues to accept electronic filings. The public counter and telephone lines for the Bankruptcy Court also remain open for business according to their normal schedules.
