CTDOT is Developing Plans to Upgrade Illumination and Guiderail on I-95 in Greenwich and Stamford

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is developing plans to upgrade illumination and guiderail on I-95 in Greenwich and Stamford.

The project involves replacement of the existing roadway illumination system and upgrade of non-compliant guiderail to meet MASH standards where feasible. Minor bridge work will be required at some bridges within the project limits to accommodate new MASH guiderail systems at leading and trailing bridge ends. Minor grading will likely also be required along the roadside where new guiderail is installed.

The present schedule indicates that the design will be completed in December 2027, with construction anticipated to start in summer 2028, assuming acceptance of the project, availability of funding, and receipt of any required right-of-way and environmental permits. This project will be undertaken with ninety percent (90%) Federal funds and ten percent (10%) State funds.

It is CTDOT's policy to keep the public informed and involved when such projects are undertaken. It is important that the community share its concerns with CTDOT to assist in the project's development. A public informational meeting will be conducted upon the completion of the preliminary design. At this time, it is not anticipated that a formal public hearing will be necessary.
