Sept. 29, 2024 - In the aftermath of storm surge from Hurricane Helene, the City of St. Petersburg is assessing wastewater discharges across the city. The following wastewater discharge at a private lift station has been reported and verified, and is ongoing. San Carlos & Caya Costa Ave NE: Approximately 400 gallons of wastewater was discharged from one private manhole and private lift station due to power outage. The discharge entered nearby storm drains that lead to Lake Caya Costa. City crews have been vactoring the area to prevent further discharge.
