Insights > Entergy Mississippi storm update -- 12/31/2024, 8:30 p.m.
12/31/2024
Progress continued today in restoring power to 96 percent of the customers impacted by the round of thunderstorms with high winds, lightning, and reported tornadoes that moved through the Entergy Mississippi service territory Saturday night. As of 7:30 p.m., approximately 1,897 customers from this storm are without power, down from a peak of 45,131 customer outages at 9:15 p.m. Saturday night.
Over 1,300 workers including linemen, damage assessors, vegetation workers and support personnel have worked to restore these customer outages thus far. Damage assessment has found damage to both the transmission and distribution system with downed transmission lines and two transmission towers. Distribution damage assessment has identified damages to 201 poles, 56 transformers, 79 cross arms, and 983 spans (over 270,000 feet) of downed wire.
Customers that sustained outages from this Saturday's storms and high winds, who can safely receive power, are expected to be restored by 10:00 pm tonight. However, due to more extensive damage, specialized equipment needs, and/or accessibility issues, approximately 1,000 customers in the Mendenhall, Natchez, Gloster, Centerville, Meadville and Liberty areas will carry over tonight with restoration expected tomorrow evening. For updated estimated restoration times, view our outage map at www.entergy.com/view-outages. Please see the charts below for estimated restoration times.
