City of Pompano Beach Expands Opportunities for Respectful U.S. Flag Retirement

The City of Pompano Beach is proud to announce a partnership between its Environmental Services Department and the Pompano Beach Fire Department to provide multiple convenient drop-off locations for the respectful retirement of worn or damaged U.S. flags.

Through this collaboration, residents now have an accessible and dignified way to properly retire American flags that are no longer suitable for display. The initiative ensures retired flags are handled with the honor and respect they deserve, while reinforcing the City's commitment to community service, patriotism, and responsible stewardship.

"Retiring a U.S. flag is a meaningful act of respect," said Pompano Beach Fire Chief Pete McGinnis. "We are honored to partner with Environmental Services to offer residents a simple and respectful way to ensure our nation's flag is treated with the dignity it represents. This program reflects our shared commitment to serving the community and honoring our country."

By working together, the Environmental Services Department and the Pompano Beach Fire Department make it easier for residents to participate in this meaningful tradition and uphold the values the American flag represents.

Retired U.S. flag drop-off boxes are available at the following locations:

  • City Hall - 100 W. Atlantic Boulevard
  • Fire Station 11 - 109 North Ocean Boulevard
  • Fire Station 24 - 2001 Northeast 10th Street
  • Fire Station 52 - 10 Southwest 27th Avenue
  • Fire Station 61 - 2121 Northwest 3rd Avenue

Residents are encouraged to use these locations to ensure their retired flags are properly cared for in accordance with long-standing traditions.
