Landsman Bill to Help Ukraine Locate and Track Abducted Children Passes in National Defense Policy Bill

Cincinnati, OH - Today, Congressman Greg Landsman (D-OH-01) announced his bipartisan bill to help Ukraine locate and track their abducted children by Russia was included and passed in the National Defense Authorization Act.

The Yale School of Public Health's Humanitarian Research Lab estimates up to 35,000 children from Ukraine have been kidnapped and deported to Russia during the war.

To ensure these children are returned home, Congressman Landsman's bipartisan bill - the Abducted Ukrainian Kids Recovery and Accountability Act - will reestablish the U.S. Department of State's program to provide the Ukrainian government with technical and training assistance to locate and track the abducted children.

Landsman's bill was included in Congress' National Defense Authorization Act, which passed the House on Wednesday.

In March, Congressman Landsman uncovered that funding for a State Department program to track missing children from Ukraine was terminated. He sent a letter to Secretary Rubio, leading the State Department to temporarily resume funding for the program.
