ATLANTA - State Representative Todd Jones (R-South Forsyth), chairman of the House Technology and Infrastructure Innovation Committee, was recently appointed by House Speaker Jon Burns (R-Newington) to serve as a member of the House Blue-Ribbon Study Committee on the Impact of Online Platforms on Georgia Youth.
"I am appreciative of the opportunity to serve on this study committee as we take a closer look at how online platforms are shaping the experiences of young Georgians," said Chairman Jones. "I am also grateful for the House's continued work in recent sessions to study the impacts of social media and other online platforms on Georgia's youth. I look forward to the work that we will do during the interim and using our findings to better support children and protect them from bad actors, while ensuring our policies keep up with rapidly evolving technology."
The House Blue-Ribbon Study Committee on the Impact of Online Platforms on Georgia Youth will evaluate the effects of online platforms on minors to strengthen safety protections, address mental health concerns and promote age-appropriate access to online content.
Speaker Burns also appointed the following study committee members: Speaker Pro Tem Jan Jones (R-Milton), State Representatives Rob Clifton (R-Evans), Johnny Chastain (R-Blue Ridge), Beth Camp (R-Concord), Brad Thomas (R-Holly Springs), Anne Allen Westbrook (D-Savannah), Lydia Glaize (D-Fairburn), Debra Bazemore (D-South Fulton), Tangie Herring (D-Macon) and Shawn Conroy, Consumer Protection Division, Georgia Attorney General's Office.

Representative Todd Jones represents the citizens of District 25, which includes portions of Forsyth and Fulton counties. He was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2016 and currently serves as Chairman of the Technology and Infrastructure Innovation Committee. He also serves on the Appropriations Subcommittee on Education, Education, Energy, Utilities & Telecommunications, Health, Judiciary and Ways & Means committees, as well as the Special Committee on Resource Management.
