On March 26, the inaugural session of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between the Republic of Armenia and Hungary was held in Yerevan. The session was co-chaired by Vahan Kostanyan, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, and Tristan Azbej, State Secretary for Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary.
The meeting brought together representatives of relevant ministries and state agencies of the two countries. The interlocutors presented the economic potential of Armenia and Hungary and held in-depth discussions across a broad range of areas, including trade and economic cooperation, energy, water resources management, healthcare, high technologies, agriculture, tourism, as well as education and culture.
In the course of the constructive discussions, the priority directions and next steps of the Intergovernmental Commission, aimed at advancing joint projects and further expanding sectoral cooperation, were emphasised.
The mutual readiness to fully utilize the existing potential for mutually beneficial cooperation between Armenia and Hungary was stressed.
At the conclusion of the session, the Rules of Procedure of the Intergovernmental Commission and the Protocol of its inaugural meeting were signed.
On the same day, Deputy Minister Vahan Kostanyan held a working meeting with State Secretary Tristan Azbej. The positive dynamics of Armenia-Hungary bilateral relations was commended and the importance of ensuring the continuity of political dialogue, further advancing sectoral cooperation, and strengthening people-to-people contacts was stressed. Deputy Foreign Minister Kostanyan highly appreciated the targeted assistance provided to Armenia under the "Hungary Helps" Programme.
