‘WSU in the Puget Sound’ kicks off

Washington State University will celebrate its ties to Western Washington with WSU in the Puget Sound Aug. 23 - Sept. 6.

WSU alumni, family and friends are invited to a lineup of events and activities hosted by the university's academic, athletic, and alumni units. The collaborative celebration will help paint the region Crimson and Gray ahead of this year's Boeing Apple Cup in Seattle.

The events are open to everyone, including alumni, fans, prospective students, and future Cougars. Prospective students can also participate in Apple Cup Blitz instant admission events hosted by the WSU News Student Enrollment team. During these events, eligible high school students can apply, receive an admission decision and learn more about the opportunities available through a Cougar education.

University leaders will also be on tour throughout the region, connecting with civic, business, and community groups and learning about opportunities to further strengthen WSU's impact in the Puget Sound. A list of highlighted events is available below.

The annual Apple Cup Food Pantry Challenge is a friendly fundraising competition that runs from Aug. 23 to Sept. 6. Together, WSU and the University of Washington will tackle food insecurity in their campus communities. Donations to WSU will be distributed to food pantries across the system. More information on this year's Apple Cup Food Pantry Challenge is available online.

Fans and friends are invited to join the WSU Alumni Association on Wednesday, Sept. 2, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. for a happy hour event at the 7^th Street Pub in Everett with WSU Vice President and Athletics Director Jon Haarlow.

On Thursday, Sept. 3, the WSU Everett Campus will host a ribbon-cutting celebrating its new Fluke Engineering Lab. The lab was recently named in recognition of a gift from the Fluke Corporation.

The WSU Foundation will host the Crimson Celebration from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency Seattle. The event will bring together alumni from across generations to celebrate the impact of philanthropic support. Advance registration is encouraged and walk-up registration will be available at 4:45 p.m.

The Boeing Apple Cup kicks off at 1 p.m. at Husky Stadium in Seattle. For those unable to attend in person, watch parties are planned across the region, including the Multicultural Cougs Apple Cup Watch Party at Hatback Bar & Grille.
