Region Coordinates Ahead of 'Walk for Peace' Pilgrimage

The governments of Caroline, Fredericksburg, Spotsylvania and Stafford are coordinating with the Buddhist monks participating in the "Walk for Peace" pilgrimage, which will move through the region in early February.

The monks are walking from Fort Worth, Texas, to Washington, D.C., and are expected to pass through Caroline, Spotsylvania, Fredericksburg, and Stafford. Local governments and public safety agencies across the region are collaborating to help coordinate this official visit. This includes security, traffic management, and any logistical needs or planned stops within each jurisdiction.

Because the monks' daily travel distance is dependent on weather conditions and overall progress, plans are subject to change. Local officials will continue to coordinate closely and will share information as schedules and details are confirmed.

Residents are asked to follow the guidance of public safety officials and remain patient and respectful as the monks make their way through the region. Traffic volumes along portions of the route may be heavy at times. Drivers are encouraged to use caution and remain alert to help ensure the monks' safe passage through the area.

Coordinating localities are not accepting donations or offers of assistance. Updates and additional information will be shared as available on the following government websites and their respective official social media channels:

· Caroline: www.co.caroline.va.us
· Fredericksburg: www.fredericksburgva.gov
· Spotsylvania: www.spotsylvania.va.us
· Stafford: www.staffordcountyva.gov

The "Walk for Peace," by a group of Buddhist monks, is a 2,300-mile pilgrimage from Fort Worth, Texas, to Washington, D.C., to promote peace, loving kindness, and compassion across America and the world. The walk began in October 2025 and is expected to conclude in February 2026. Along the way, the monks engage with local communities and are accompanied by a dog named Aloka.
